Gnome for the holidays

I've not had much time to spend in my craft room, lots of changes in my life has got me running from pillar to post.  I did manage to squeeze in some time to put this card together using this sweet gnome from the Gnome for the Holidays stamp set.   Whimsy Stamps have released some matching Outline Dies for this stamp set along with other matching sets as well, though I fussy cut this image out as when I coloured this image the dies hadn't yet been released

I started off the card by inking a panel of white card with pumice stone distress oxide ink, then spattering with water and white paint.  Once dry I layered up some snow banks along with one of the trees from the Tree Assortment Die Set

The colouring was kept simple with only red and grey used along with a touch of E's for the nose.

Reds: R37, R36, R24, R32
Grey: W3, 1, 0, 00
Skin: E11, 00

I have a few more Christmas cards to post that I made months ago and never got around to actually blogging them.  Should get those done this week.

Smiles across the miles

Whimsy Stamps has this gorgeous Snowy River red rubber stamp as part of the latest release.  It's a large stamp so is perfect for production line cards as all it needs after stamping is a sentiment and, if you can't help yourself like I can't, a bit of bling.

I stamped the image on to a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock with navy ink, allowed it to dry then lightly inked around the edges of the panel with Stormy Sky Distress Ink.  I die cut the panel with the largest die from the  Wonky Stitched Rectangle Dies and mounted it on to a white card.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from the new Simple Sentiment Strips stamp set and added touches of Stickles along with the sequins for a boost of bling (which is not showing up in the photos, typical!)

Yeti for Christmas

Whimsy Stamps mini release is here and it's the final one for 2020, and  this cutie from the Yeti For Christmas clear stamp set is part of the release.

I started off with one of the gorgeous backgrounds from the  Blurry Flurries Paper Pack and then die cut and inked a couple of snow hills along with a row of trees from the  Tree Assortment Die Set

I stamped and coloured the Yeti and Gnomies (too stinkin cute!) with copic markers before fussy cutting, and finished off with a heat embossed sentiment also from the stamp set.

I have another card featuring the new release which I will post tomorrow.

Happy Feet!

Whimsy Stamps mini release is here, and this release includes the most adorable penguin stamp set by Deb Davis called Happy Feet.  They are so stinking cute.

I did very little ink blending on this card as I cheated and used one of the fab papers from the Blurry Flurries Paper Pack and then die cut and inked a couple of snow hills, stamped on a greeting from the stamp set then assembled on to a card blank.

Also new out today is the Twinkle Scribble Die which I used behind the pile of penguins.  I finished this all off with some bling.

CAS Christmas

I don't think I've ever made such a simple Christmas card, go me!  I used the Alphabet Mini Clear Stamp Set to stamp and heat emboss the "Very Merry" on to the banner from the Slimline Bunting Borders Die Set.  The mini alphabet stamps are perfect to customise a greeting.

I cut out a couple of triangles to make the trees from the gorgeous 6 x 6 Tartan Paper Pack and finished off with some tiny gold and white stars that I found in my stash.

Pine Bough

Whimsy Stamps mini release is here!  I went for traditional again with this beautiful Pine Bough stamp.  It's not large enough for a full Slimline card but works so well with the Slimline Marquee Die.

I stamped the image out twice and coloured with copic markers.  I coloured the background first with E41 and E40 markers then used G29,  G46, G43 and YG03 for the branches and E41, E25, E29 for the pine cones.  Because the image is already pre-shaded it makes for really easy colouring.

I inked a panel of smooth cardstock with Distress Oxides Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet and Aged Mahogany then splattered water and gold paint on to it.  Once it was dry I ran it through the die cutter then adhered the stamped images behind the windows with foam tape.

I finished off with a few gold sequins and a heat embossed sentiment from the  Holiday Mini Sentiments Stamps

Here's a peek at what the DT have come up with for this new release

Fairy Thoughtful

Fairy Thoughtful is part of the new Whimsy Stamp release, isn't she so sweet!

I made the background by inking up a panel of smooth cardstock with Distress Oxides - Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet and Chipped Sapphire, splattered with some water and once dry added some white paint splatters.

I die cut the trees and birds from the Forest Majesty Die Set and also a couple of snow banks.  Once the trees and snow banks were adhered in place I adhered a frame that I made using the Quilted Rainbow Inlaid Die Set.  The sentiment is from the Warm Fuzzies Stamp Set

The fairy was coloured with copic markers:

Skin: E04, E11, E01, E000
Hair: E27, E21
Clothing: E43, E42, E41, E40; V95, V93, V91
Present: V17, V15, V12; C3, C1, C00

Slimline Scenic Countryside

The Slimline Scenic Countryside Die Set is another new release this week, and so another quick and easy Christmas card added to the pile already done.

I started off by inking up a panel of smooth cardstock with Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire before splattering with water and white gouache.

I die cut all the bits from the die set along with a couple of snowy hills.  The only colour is the pop of gold glitter card behind the windows and the Christmas trees that I coloured with copic markers.

I finished off by stamping the sentiment (from the Elegant Ornaments Clear Stamp Set ) then mounting the frame on to the card with some foam tape.

I have another Christmas card to share tomorrow.

Slimline Elegant Snowflakes

Whimsy Stamps mini release is here and man oh man did I ever get my happy on when I saw this die. H.A.P.P.Y.!  It's the new Slimline Elegant Border and Snowflakes Die Set and it's just stunning!

I've made two super quick and easy cards, this is definitely a production-line die, that's for sure.

I inked up a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock with some old SU ink - Groovy Guava and Blush Blossom (lurve this colour combo).  I then die cut the snowflake border from white card and adhered that to the coloured panel, and finished off with a few gold mirror card snowflakes and a gold Christmas Large Word Die and a heat embossed word from the You're My Jolly stamp set.

For the second card I repeated the steps except this time I used gold glitter card to cut the snowflake border and BOOM - bling de la BLING!  Just what Christmas needs!  I used the 6 x 6 Gilded Holiday paper pad and managed to get it to work on the slimline size by using one of the die cut flourishes to disguise the join, and the background is seamless.  Well chuffed with how this worked out!

I'll be back tomorrow with another card from this new release.

The UK is going back into lockdown this week, but wherever you are in the world stay safe xo

Warm Fuzzies

Isn't this Santa and puppy just the sweetest?  The Warm Fuzzies is another of the new stamp sets in the Whimsy Stamps mini release.

I decided to make a scene card so started off by masking off a border around a panel of Bristol Smooth then inked the background with antique linen and vintage photo distress ink, added some splatters for a bit of interest.  I kept the inking light so the images would pop.

I used my copic markers to colour the images:

Santa: E94, E11, E01, BV20, C0, C00
Pup: E33, E31, E30
Clothing: R46, R27, R35, R14; C9, 7, 5; BG57, BG53, BG10

Cat & mat: C5, C3, C1, C0 BG57, BG63, BG10
Fireplace: E77, E74, E71, E70, E42, E40, YR18, Y15, Y11
Wreath G09, G43, G40

I finished off the card with a sentiment from the stamp set.

Dragon Christmas Cheer

Another of the new stamp sets in the Whimsy Stamps mini release is this stinking cute Dragon Christmas Cheer set, he's really got himself in a tangle this time!

The idea I had in my head was to have him dangling from a stamped sentiment but ended up going with the Merry Large Word Die which I stacked with several layers or cardstock, and it's just perfect for this cray-cray dragon.

Once I'd coloured the dragon I felt he looked too bland and washed out, so coloured him again with much bolder colours and, the jury is still out which one I prefer buuuuut I got two cards instead of one so job's a winner.

I added a sentiment from the stamp set then die cut the coloured panels with the Wonky Stitched Rectangle Dies and mounted it on to a dark purple card

Copic colours used:
Lighter image - V99, V95, V93, V91, E13, E11, E00; Y17, Y11; B05, B00; G05, G20; RV29, R000
Dark Image V09, V17, V15, E13, E11, E00; Y17, Y11; B05, B00; G05, G20; RV29, R000

I have another card planned for tomorrow, that one features one of Crissy Armstrong's sweetest little Santas.

Slimline Fancy Frame Die

Whimsy Stamps have released this delish new Slimline Fancy Frame Die along with the Jolly Holly Stencil as part of today's new release.

I decided to go "old school" complete with gold mirror card because that gorgeous frame just screams bling!  I die cut the frame from ivory shimmer card stock and a layer of mirror card.  I stencilled the leaves direct on the panel with distress oxides then inked the pine cones and berries on to a scrap piece of card and fussy cut them out so I could pop them in place with sticky foam.

I  stamped and heat embossed the "wishes" from the  You're my Jolly stamp set and die cut the Christmas Large Word Die from mirror card.

I'll be back tomorrow with a couple  more cards featuring goodies from this release

Peppermint swirl

I need all the Christmas cards I can get so when I saw the new Cosmic Swirl Background Stamp I got my Crimbo hat on and peppermint swirl instead.  I stamped out the background with red ink, allowed it to dry then die cut it with the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Dies

I then cut the presents from the Bookmark and Tags Die Set from pink card and applied glitter to the present lids and added a tiny rhinestone for some bling.  These were then adhered to a panel of white card.  I die cut JOY from the Bold ABC Die Set - they're the perfect size for these tags - and adhered them to the presents with foam tape.

A sentiment from the Holiday Mini Sentiments Stamps finished off this quick and simple card.

Whilst I had the Bookmark and Tags Die Set out I decided to make some bottle tags.  I used a circle punch to make the opening for the bottle.  I stamped a background pattern using the Holiday Postage Clear Stamp Set and did a bit of copic colouring.  I finished the tag off with some gingham ribbon and twine.

Gnome for the holidays

Gah, I just LOVE these wee gnomes by Crissy Armstrong!  Whimsy Stamps released two stamp sets on Saturday and they sold out straight away, no surprise there then!  They are available for pre-order though, and I've already pre-ordered the other set because ... gnomies!  There's just some things a girl as got to do.

Anyhoo, on to my card using the Gnome for the Holidays clear stamp set.  I started off by masking off a moon on a panel of Bristol Smooth card stock then inked with Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire.  I splattered on some white paint and set it aside to dry.

I die cut a strip of white card with the Fab-U-Las  Tree Assortment Die Set and removed some of the little trees so they didn't interfere with the large tree.  I cut a couple of extra snowbanks and added very light touches of Tumbled Glass to the bottoms to create some shading.

That Gnome!!!  He got the copic treatment then I fussy cut him out:
Skin: E04, 11, 01
Beard: W3, 1, 0
Clothing: R39, 29, 35, 24; C1, 00
Tree: G29, 43, 20
Star YR24, 13

I die cut the largest tree and added some baubles after adhering it in place.  And then finished the card off with a heat embossed sentiment from my all time very favouritest stamp set Holiday Mini Sentiments stamps

Back tomorrow with a couple of projects from the latest release 🙂

31 Nights of Halloween

Whimsy Stamps are running their annual 31 Nights of Halloween event, with prizes and projects galore on the Whimsy Blog, and today is my turn to post some Halloween fun!

I chose to use the  Slimline Hill House die and teamed this with the  Spooktacular Clear Stamp set and a couple of sentiments from the You're My Boo stamp set.

I die cut a mask for the moon, popped it in place then inked the panel with Distress Oxides (Old Paper, Evergreen Bough, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot).  I added black oxide splatters and allowed to dry before removing the mask.  I added some shadows to the moon with copic markers and finished off with some spooky clouds by inking the panel with a cloud stencil and white pigment ink.

The house was backed with gold glitter card and adhered in place (after performing surgery and chopping the bottom off so the house would fit on the A2 sized card.)  I layered a couple strips of grass that I also inked with white pigment ink so they would stand out against the house.  I finished off with a copic coloured wee ghostie and a couple heat embossed sentiments.

And this, my friends, is most definitely the LAST Halloween card from me for another year!  I'm done and so into CHRISTMAS!!!! Ha!

Holiday Postage

How fab is this new Holiday Postage Clear Stamp Set that I've paired with the recently released fun Postage Window Die from Whimsy Stamps!

I started off this card by inking a panel of Bristol Smooth card stock with Distress Oxides, starting with Tumbled Glass then Broken China, Stormy Sky and Faded Jeas.  I splattered the panel with water and diluted white paint and allowed to dry completely before die cutting with the Postage Window Die.

I raised up the frame part with double sided foam and stuck this down on to the card front, then popped the "stamps" back in place.  I cut a couple of white strips of card to resemble snow and glued those in on top of the stamps then filled in 6 of the windows with icons from the Holiday Postage stamp set, leaving the centre row free so I could pop in the Merry Large Word Die cut sentiment, along with a partial sentiment from the Holiday Mini Sentiments stamps

I'll be back quite a bit over the next few days with goodies from this release, it's pure Christmas so Bev got a bit carried away with herself ha!

Winter trees on Kraft

I really do love Kraft and white together, and throw in a hit of red and oh boy, that makes me so happy!

This is such a quick and simple card to make, I made a mask by die cutting a circle from a piece of acetate, secured the mask to a piece of kraft card stock and applied white pigment ink to the circle, keeping it heaviest around the outer edges.  Once it was dry I made a snow storm (I'm lethal with that Posca Paint Pen!!) then adhered a couple of trees from the newly released Tree Assortment Die Set from Whimsy Stamps.

I die cut the Christmas Large Word Die from red cardstock and finished off with a stamped "Merry" and some red bling baubles for the tree.

This is so different from the blue card I posted the other day using the Tree Assortment Die Set and I love the versatility of this die set.

Autumn Leaves

I've another new stamp set from Whimsy Stamps today, and something different from me.  I decided to do some heat embossing and watercolouring for a change.  I started off by adding browns, greens and reds to a piece of watercolour paper with a lot of water to give a very faded out look.  Once it was dry I added gold and black splatter.

I stamped out the leaves from the new Leaf Layers Clear Stamp Set and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  I coloured the leaves with the same colours as I used on the background but just a lot more concentrated.

I finished off with a heat embossed sentiment from the Leaf Layers stamp set and some gold sequins.

I'm in Christmas mode so have another Christmas card to share tomorrow.

Winter Trees

I've decided to keep postage costs down this Christmas so am trying for CAS flat(ish) cards and definitely achieved that here - go me!

I started off the card by making a mask for the moon, then inking with Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and a touch of Black Soot.  I then splattered water and white paint on and allowed it to dry.  I also used a Posca Paint Pen to add more snow and ended up with a snow storm!   I removed the mask and added some squiggly shading with W1 and W0 copic markers.

I then die cut that fab tree border from the newly released Tree Assortment Die Set from Whimsy Stamps then cut another layer from white card.  I inked both with Tumbled Glass to add a little shading.  I stamped a sentiment from the Everyday Scripted Sentiments stamp set then adhered the layers in place with thin foam tape.

Spooky Halloween take 2

Whimsy Stamps have released the Cosmic Half Tone Oval background stamp today, and I've used it on this Halloween card with simple ink blending and stamping.

As I was using distress oxides I decided to ink first then stamp, so the fine black details from the stamp wouldn't be blurred or lost.  I used Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin, Worn Lipstick, Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire and applied it in an oval shape.  The colour gradients fitted with the pattern on the stamp perfectly, and that wasn't my intention so pure luck!  I cut this out with the  Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die Set.

I die cut the  Spooky Large Word Die  from black cardstock four times and adhered them together before adhering this on to the card.  I wanted extra shine so applied a coat of Nuvo Crystal Glaze and set it aside to dry.

The wee ghostie from the Spooktacular Clear Stamp set took minimal colouring and once coloured I fussy cut it out.  I finished off with a sentiment from the  You're My Boo stamp set

Mountain Scene

I think pretty much any sentiment would work for this card but as I always struggle with cards for the blokes I went with a generic one from the You're Birthday stamp set instead.

I inked up one of the mountain stamps form the new 6 x 6 Create a Scene - Mountains stamp from Whimsy Stamps and coloured it with copic markers.  I started with the sky and laid down BV31, R30, R00, YR30, YR000, BV000 and finished off with R0000.  I then used BG72, B41, BG000 ad BG0000 for the water, adding in deeper shading for the mountain and tree reflections before blending over again with BG000 and BG0000.  The mountains were coloured with T3, T1 and T0 and the trees with a mix of G28, G24, G20, YG67, YG63 and YG61.  I also lighted up some areas with YG03.

I die cut the image and a larger panel with the Notched Rectangles die set.

I stamped a piece of pale blue card with the Farmhouse Shiplap Background stamp with a slightly darker shade of blue ink, die cut a scalloped border using the Kinetic Straight Basics die set and mounted this on to pale grey card.
