Today we have an special monthly challenge starting at Just Magnolia Challenges (one of two that will run each month, more on the second challenge in a few weeks time.)
As the title says, this is the Simon Says Stamp Monthly Challenge and will be sponsored by them each month. Heidi has very kindly and generously offered to sponsor this monthly challenge to the tune of a whopping $50!!! I wish I could enter lol.
The challenge is to alter a container - ANY container be it a box, a bag, a tub, a tin, a bucket - anything. The DT have really come up trumps, there are some amazing ideas there to get your creative juices flowing. Me .... well I was sooooo original (not!!) and I went and bought a oval Paper Mache box from Hobbycraft. (I am so not inventive in any way lol).
I balked at first as my first love is making cards but I must admit I really enjoyed doing this and already have requests for some for Christmas. It was really easy to do, I covered the box with K & Co paper which I adhered with Mod Podge, inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink and glued on some lace.
I lined the inside the same way but used punched strips of paper to trim the inside with. A few paper roses from Hobbycraft (thanks Kim xx) and some cherry blossoms with a bit of lace ribbon (also from Hobbycraft - you'll have guessed I paid them a visit last week lol) and job done. I even attempted distressing the image following Kim's tutorial that she did for us last week. It was so simple and at last I feel I can attempt distressing without wrecking the thing!
Thanks for looking,
